Description

CHARITY GAME

Recreational/semi-competitive non-profit 5-a-side tournament to raise money for Cancer Research UK, in association with the University of Manchester's Cancer Research UK Society (CRUKSoc).

The tournament entry is £30 per team, so we'll use the site to pick teams of 6 players (i.e. each team will bring a substitute to make the price £5 per person).

The tournament will last for four hours from start to finish, and will be a group & knockout format. You'll be getting a lot of football for your money, and it's all for charity!

All details can be found on the Facebook event page.

Venue: Armitage Sports Centre Fallowfield

  • 3G artificial grass surface, outdoor
  • Changing rooms & showers available
  • You can wear boots; no metal studs
  • Pay at the game. We'll have change if needed.

Getting there:

5 minute walk from Fallowfield centre. If you are coming on the bus, walk straight through Owens Park University halls for a few minutes (300m) and you will come to the sports campus. We play in the cages next to the main car park.
If you are coming in the car, make sure you go into the site and park in front of the reception. The pitches are next to the car park.

Game Play Rules

  • Only the goalkeeper is allowed to touch the ball within the penalty area
  • The goalkeeper is not allowed out of the penalty area
  • There are no offside rules.
  • If a defender enters the box, it's a penalty
  • If the goalkeeper exits the box, it's a penalty
  • Red cards work in the same way as the 11-a-side game.
  • Yellow cards come with a two minute sin-bin
  • Charging/sliding tackles are not allowed and will be awarded a warning/yellow card.
  • Restart after a goal will be from the keeper.
  • Players can always give the ball to the keeper (and he may handle it), so long as they have not just received the ball from him.

All skill levels and mixed teams are more than welcome.
