Score a goal in every goal on Hackney Marshes.
Not a normal game of football - ignore the game size
This isn’t a match and there are no teams, scores, refs or tactics.
It’s a small tradition that’s grown into a yearly get-together:
scoring a goal in every goal on Hackney Marshes.
Hackney Marshes has 69 pitches - 138 goals. Once a year, a loose group of us wander between them, scoring one goal in each. It takes a couple of hours and is done entirely for the pleasure of doing it.
People bring your own football.
We shoot from the correct direction. There are no keepers, no nets and no winners.
It’s very relaxed and communal:
Move at your own pace.
Join a group or drift between people.
Come with friends or turn up solo.
All abilities welcome. Walking is fine. Missing is normal.
This is now in its 3rd year and has become a nice excuse to get outside, meet people, and take part in something mildly pointless together.
Other Key Info
• The changing rooms will NOT be open. So I highly recommend turning up in your kit.
• There are no toilets on site, just bushes.
• Trainers, astroturfs or studded boots are fine given the weather.
• Bring your own football (or share yours with a pal)
• It's not a race.
• Scoring should be in the correct direction of the goal.
• A suggested route image is below, just follow the herd.
• If anything is unclear, they'll be a chance for questions before we begin.
• On the bridge between the marsh areas, about two thirds of the way into the challenge is a good time for a
break. In 2024 this was nicknamed 'Crisp Bridge' following Ben's amazing ability to bring a sharing pack of crisps with him for this moment. Bonus points if you can do the same.
• Pub after.
