Looking to play football in south Belfast? Queen's Sport at Botanic Park on Stranmillis Embankment has three outdoor 3G pitches set up for 5-a-side. It's a handy one for players in Stranmillis, Botanic, Malone, the Lisburn Road, Ormeau, and anyone coming straight down from the city centre.
The pitches sit right outside the Physical Education Centre on the edge of Botanic Gardens, so you're surrounded by parkland and playing fields. The River Lagan and the towpath run along the far side of the embankment. It's a busy part of the Queen's Quarter with the Ulster Museum, the Lyric Theatre, and Stranmillis University College all within a few minutes' walk, and a mix of student housing and terraced streets around it.
Pitches: Three outdoor 3G artificial grass pitches, laid out for 5-a-side.
Changing Rooms & Showers: Available inside the PEC.
Parking: On-site car park at the centre.
Entrance Guide: The PEC is on Stranmillis Embankment at the Botanic Park entrance. Head through the main building and the pitches are out the back.
Buses: The 8A and 8D run along Stranmillis Road, with the Lyric and Stranmillis College stops both a few minutes' walk away. The 29, 29C, and 30A also serve the embankment.
Train: Botanic station is the nearest, about a 15 minute walk through the Botanic Gardens or up Stranmillis Road.
For private bookings, contact the venue directly. Footy Addicts does not handle third-party bookings.
What boots should I wear? Moulded boots or astro trainers on the 3G surface. Metal studs are not allowed.
Are there toilets? Yes, toilets are available inside the PEC.
